This one of those makeovers that I thought was not going to work. I was drawn to this sweet antique table because of the lovey shape so I ended up purchasing it anyway. The challenge was that the top laminate stuff was peeling off and left a huge whole on the top of the table.
Once we realised it was quite solid underneath my husband filled the top with wood filler. This had to be repeated numerous times and sanded down so it was nice and smooth and not visable.

You would never even know that the top had been repaired.
I gave the sander a good workout on this piece as I really wanted to bring that lovely timber through.

Hi Sandy:
I have a 3-tier table with this exact problem. The laminate has peeled more, though,so I'm thinking of just taking it off. But I'm trying the wood-filler first! Thanks for the cool ideas.

My brother Chris used to use car bog filler to fill the most amazing antique furniture and then would colour match and wood grain it and no one would have ever known it was there. You table looks great, cheers katherine

Just lovely, and I adore your roses. Home grown roses have a beautiful scent that you just don't get with shop bought ones, don't you think?
