Remember This (Before)
My kitchen is still a work in progress but has come so far compared to when we purchased the house. The pale blue splash back tiles I have lived with for a few months now but they just had to go. I talked to the kitchen man through the week who advised me not to paint but re-tile. I went to my favourite paint shop and spoke to a lady that I seem to get all my painting advice from and she advised that yes it can be done and will look great. Honestly I cannot tell the difference and don’t think anyone else could. They just look like white tiles that have been there forever. I just can’t see the point in replacing when you can re-paint. I won’t stop at the kitchen tiles and have the kids bathroom next to do.
Don’t worry the blue benchtops are next on the list to go. Had the man come and measure this week for a lovely replacement bench and lets just say that I cannot wait.

Wow, what a difference a coat of paint makes! Great work Sandy-That is incredible. I would love to know what sort of paint you used that adheres to tiles as it is such a cost effective way of re-decorating a tiled area.

Looks great! I have heard of painting tiles…I agree they look like they were already that way. I too am in the middle of a kitchen re-model and know what you are feeling…I am ready to have it done…hopefully soon! 🙂 Can't wait to see more.

Hi Sandy. It's so funny you just posted this. I've been contemplating painting the tiles in my kitchen and laundry for a while now and was going to post about it in my new blog. They're very neautral, so probably don't really need it, though I wanna do it anyway! My other alternative is to install pressed tin over them. Gee, it looks fantastic Sandy. I have sooo got to pick your brain. I need to paint the ensuite and main bathroom tiles and am just a bit nervous because if I stuff it up we can't afford to retile. I'll email you with my 20 questions soon if that's okay:o)

Your kitchen is looking great! I saw them use that paint on Better Homes & Gardens once, that's where I found out about it, but wondered if it was any good.. looks like it is! They also have paint you can use on laminate kitchen doors! Actually I think it's the same paint?? Can't wait to see your finished kitchen.. take care, Maryann

I would love to paint my pale blue tiles in my bathroom white..BUT am too chicken as they cut in around the toilet & through to the shower
i would inevitable mess it up..

I am only new to your blog and I love what you do….love the white look,my home is slowly getting the white treatment! I painted my kitchen tiles with the White Knight Tile paint about 5 years ago and they are great….no wear,cleans well(especially around the stove!) and a much cheaper option than retiling. Look forward to seeing your kitchen finished.
