Thought I would show you a photo of my home I found featured in Brisbane’s “Style” Magazine.  Here is the article written by Tahn Scoon.

Brighten up your home this winter with all the wonderful shades of white.
White is wonderful on walls, really lightening and opening a room up, as well as creating a great neutral backdrop for more colourful fabrics and furnishings – and in warmer climates, such as ours, it also provides some relief from the heat.

In saying that it’s important to choose the right hue, as whites fall into three basic categories; neutral, warm and cool. Neutral whites are the pure, true whites; they are often too stark to work well in homes and more suited to art galleries and the like. Warm and cool whites are technically off-whites. Warm whites contain a little red, brown or yellow and cool whites contain a little blue, green or black.

If your home is quite dark and doesn’t receive much sun, choose a very pale shade of warm white to first lighten and then literally add warmth. Conversely, if your home receives a lot of sun, try a deeper shade of a cool white to help cut down on the glare while keeping it cool.

Another thing to keep in mind is that warm whites, such as vanillas and ivories, tend to sit well in more traditional homes – while cool, grey whites look more fabulous in contemporary homes.

Another really nice warm white to look out for is ‘Milk’ by Porter’s Paints. If you’re after a cool white; try Dulux ‘Lexicon’ for a very light white, or Porter’s ‘Ashen’ for something a little deeper.
