Child’s Desk Makeover

These little children’s desk’s are getting harder and harder to find and it did have me wondering what was underneath that mountain of blue paint. As you can see from the image further down I started out removing some of the 30 stickers that were plastered all over it with the heat gun. Once I started and this was almost dark I was on a roll and ended up using the heat gun to remove all the blue paint on top which was coming off quite easily. The alternative would have been to use a paint stripper but the heat gun worked quite fine.
Great surprise to see a lovey pine underneath.

Painted white and replaced the handles with these great library card pulls.

My gorgeous vintage typewriter I picked up this week is in full working order and came with the cover and all. My kids cannot believe we had these before computers.

I didn’t apply a stain as I loved the natural wood, just a sealer to keep it nice.

Here’s the desk in layers of blue paint.

Here’s me on a mission to get the blue paint off.

Sweet child’s blackboard.
Monday is here again, hope you all have a wonderful week.
I’m coming up to my 500th post and working towards a giveaway – stay tuned.

I love the desk, chair, typewriter – everything! It looks gorgeous. Is that a heat gun I see you using to scrape the paint? I couldn't live without mine 🙂

    Hello

The desk looks very smart. I particularly like the way you have left the wooden top in natural wood. Here's hoping that the next generation to use it doesn't glue on any stickers.

The desk looks great…I've been shopping today at an antique/collectibles fair…found some great stuff including a big gal tub, old silver lighters, and some Mappin and Webb hotel silver. There is some great old crap here in England. Robx
